Predicting the future
In any business, success depends to a large extent on how good you are at predicting future events and making suitable deals. Many companies had not anticipated the recession and had made big plans for the future, hiring hundreds of people. Today many of those plans have not taken off and the same companies are trying to frantically reduce costs.
